Class of 2010 rounded out with addition of Fox

CSU-Pueblo concluded its 2010 signees with the addition of 6-foot-2 California high school standout, Taylor Fox (Santa Catalina HS, Santa Cruz, Calif.), to the ThunderWolves' 2010-11 roster.

Fox established herself as one of the state of California's top players in 2009-10, averaging 21.6 points per game while playing at Santa Catalina High School in Monterey, Calif.   Last season, she earned Mission Trail Athletic League MVP honors for the second time, leading the Cougars to its second straight MTAL Championship and third league title in four seasons.

In her four-year career at Santa Catalina, Fox scored more than 1,500 career points in 90 games, averaging 16.1 points per game.  Fox was strong on the perimeter, averaging 1.5 three-pointers per game throughout her high school career, and draining an average of two threes per game during her junior and senior seasons.

Fox comes to CSU-Pueblo after choosing the ThunderWolves over a number of Division I schools, including Seattle University and the University of San Francisco, CSU-Pueblo head women's basketball coach, Kip Drown, said.

Drown first saw Fox in a tournament in Phoenix with her West Valley Basketball Club, and was impressed with her ability to both light it up on the perimeter and grind defensively in the paint.

"Taylor was exactly the type of player that we were looking for to finish up this outstanding class that we signed for next year," Drown said.  "She is an outstanding three-point shooter but she can also put the ball on the floor and has great court vision in the open court.  She is a tough rebounder and we expect her to be ready to contribute to our team from the get go next season.  In addition she is an outstanding student and a person of great character.  She is a great fit for our program."

Fox's signing caps off a banner year of off-season signees for the ThunderWolves, who won their fourth Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship in five seasons in 2009-10.  Fox joins previous signees Taylor Castillo (Kiowa, Colo./Kiowa HS), a 6-foot-2 post who helped lead Kiowa High School to the Colorado 2A state semifinals, Alex Evans (Louisville, Colo./Monarch HS), a point guard who was named the Boulder Daily Camera Regional Player of the Year in 2010, Paige Ramm (Prescott HS/Prescott, Ariz.), the 2010 Arizona high school three-point champion, and Katie Tomlinson (Dobson HS/Mesa C.C./Mesa, Ariz.), a 6-foot-1 post player from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz.
