CSU-Pueblo 75, New Mexico Highlands 57
The Thunderwolves overcame a sluggish start to win 75-57 Tuesday night against the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls Tuesday night.
With the win the Thunderwolves ended a two-game skid and improved to 13-7 and 9-3 RMAC.
The Pack started the game slow while the Cowgirls opened strong, leading by nine, 13-4, with 15:07 left in first half. The Pack then went on a 12-2 run to get back in the game. There were several lead changes throughout the first half with the Pack pulling ahead to end the first half, 29-25.
The Pack started the second half strong as they went on a 9-2 run to build on their lead, leading by as much as 22 points midway through the second half. Offensively, the Pack was led by Rachel Espinoza (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) with 20 points, leaving her just 10 points away from the 1,000-point barrier.
Amanda Bartlett (Jr., Kiowa, Colo) also added a career-high four assists. The Pack defense was helped in part by a career-high 12 rebounds by Katrina Selsor (Fr., Glenwood Springs, Colo.) Selsor also finished the night with 13 points, securing her second double-double of the season.
The Pack will be back in action as they host Western New Mexico on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
