COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 1, 2010) - Despite winning its third straight RMAC Championship last season, CSU-Pueblo's women's basketball team wasn't picked to finish highly this season, coming in at fourth, according to the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, released Monday.
The odds on favorite to win the RMAC is Adams State, which went 21-8 last season despite losing to the ThunderWolves in the RMAC Tournament. Also in the mix is defending regional champion, Fort Lewis, which reached the national title game in 2010 and loses four seniors off of its best squad in school history.
One coach in the RMAC sees a fourth straight title for the ThunderWolves in the works - CSU-Pueblo garnered one first-place vote in the preseason poll.
No ThunderWolves were selected for the 10-woman Preseason All-RMAC squad, also released Monday. However, it is the philosophy of CSU-Pueblo head coach, Kip Drown, to never nominate one of his players for a preseason award.
