ThunderWolves fall in final exhibition
Hicks nets 22 points against solid Wyoming squad.
LARAMIE, Wyo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 5, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo fell to a very highly-touted Wyoming team Saturday in the ThunderWolves' final exhibition of the season by a 62-49 score.
The ThunderWolves, facing a Wyoming squad that was picked to finish third in the Mountain West conference and touts the conference's preseason player of the year in Kim Mestdagh, played the game closely at points, though the game got away from them at the close of the first half.
CSU-Pueblo had secured the lead on two separate occasions in the first half, but an 11-0 run by Wyoming to close the first half put the game out of reach.
The ThunderWolves were led by Erica Hicks (Jr., Lakewood, Colo.), who had a team-high 22 points, including four three-pointers. Other standout performances were delivered by Katie Nehf (Fr., Broomfield, Colo.) with five rebounds and two blocks, and Kendall Babler (Sr., Rifle, Colo.), who saw her first action of the exhibition season with a six-point, two-steal and two-assist effort.
The ThunderWolves will take two weeks off before opening its season Nov. 18 at the CSU-Pueblo Al Kaly Classic.
