ThunderWolves regain composure with schlacking of Chadron State

CSU-Pueblo's Kendall Babler weaves through coverage during the Pack's game with Eastern New Mexico Nov. 18.

Pack equals regular season win record with 19th victory.

CHADRON, Neb. ( - Feb. 18, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo turned the page and trudged forward Saturday, scoring a dominant - and uneventful - 27-point win over Chadron State to move to 19-5.

For the Pack, the 19th win equalled a program record for most regular season wins, held by the Misty Murphy-coached 2003-04 team.

CSU-Pueblo started slow, not gaining its first lead until five minutes into the game when a Kendall Babler (Sr., Rifle, Colo.) layup made it 13-11, but it would never trail thereafter.

The Pack held an eight-point lead going into halftime, a tenuous advantage considering the 15-point lead they had held near the mid-point of Friday night's eventual loss to Nebraska-Kearney, but took care of business and gave the Eagles no chance to challenge in the second half.

CSU-Pueblo outscored Chadron State 23-8 over the first nine minutes of the half, and the blowout was in full force.

In the strong all-around effort, four ThunderWolves scored in double figures, including Babler, whose 17 points led the ThunderWolves.  Alex Evans (So., Louisville, Colo.) scored 16, her third-best output of the season and her second double-digit scoring performance in as many nights.

CSU-Pueblo now returns home where it will end the regular season by hosting Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines.
