Pack falls in RMAC Quarterfinal to Fort Lewis

DURANGO, Colo. ( - March 5, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo's season is over after losing on the road in the opening round of the RMAC Shootout at Fort Lewis 78-67.

The loss is the ThunderWolves' third straight playoff loss and ends their 2012-13 campaign with an 18-9 record.

The game was defined by an early second half run by Fort Lewis as the Skyhawks broke open a tie game by going on a 14-0 run that turned a 29-29 contest into a 43-29 Fort Lewis lead.

CSU-Pueblo had any trouble making waves after that spurt, falling behind as much as 21 before beginning a late comeback.

Trailing 64-44, CSU-Pueblo went on a 21-8 run to cut the lead to 72-65 with 2:03 left.  But the run proved to be too little too late as the ThunderWolves were forced to foul its way into possessions, and the Skyhawks would hit four charities down the stretch to keep the Pack at bay.

The loss marks the final games for seniors Laurel Kearsley (Sr., Victor, Idaho), who went for a double-double with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance, Erica Hicks (Sr., Lakewood, Colo.) who will graduate as the third most prolific three-point shooter in school history after scoring 12 Tuesday, and Caiti Forrester (Sr., Boulder City, Nev.), who came off the bench to score two points.
