COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Dec. 10, 2013) – CSU-Pueblo starting post Katie Nehf (Jr., Broomfield, Colo.) was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the week.
Nehf helped the Pack defeat both Adams State and Ft. Lewis on the road over the weekend to open up season conference play.
In Friday's 77-44 win over the Grizzlies, Nehf recorded 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and four blocks.
On Saturday, Nehf scored 17 points, and added nine rebounds, two assists, three steals, and five blocks against Ft. Lewis that resulted in a 78-73 Pack win.
Between the two games she averaged 8.0 RPG (5.5 defensive RPG). Nehf's five blocks against Ft. Lewis set a career high and marked the second-most in a game in CSU-Pueblo history.
Last season Nehf started in all 26 games for the ThunderWolves and led the team in steals (2.0 per game). In 2012, she recorded a double-double against Augustina (S.D.) on March 9.
The RMAC weekly standings has CSU-Pueblo ranked second out of 14 teams. They are currently 2-0 in the conference and 5-3 overall, second only to undefeated Colorado Mesa.
Last season the Pack finished 21-7 and third in the RMAC standings. They were tournament champions three years in a row from 2007- 2010.
The ThunderWolves will travel to Denver to take on Regis University and Metro State on Friday and Saturday. Tip-off both nights is at 5pm and will be followed at 7pm by the men. Live stats, video and radio broadcast are available.
