PUEBLO, Colo. (January 17, 2017) – Thanks to a pair of dominating defensive performances, Colorado State University –Pueblo hopped to highest ranking in school history reaching No. 6 in the Sports Information Directors Association and No. 7 in the Women's College Basketball Association poll. Both rankings are the highest the Pack has reached in that respective poll.
CSU-Pueblo stands as one of the final four unbeaten teams remaining in D-II. With 17 victories, the Pack has the second highest win total in the nation.
After coming in at No.8 a week ago, the ThunderWolves jumped two spots in the D-II SIDA poll. They moved up three spots in the WBCA rankings.
The ThunderWolves are ranked ninth in the nation in free throw percentage. They make 78.7 percent of their shots from the charity stripe.
CSU-Pueblo's defense has shined in recent weeks as they have moved to 11th in field goal percentage defense. Opponents are only shooting 33.9 percent against CSU-Pueblo. Last weekend Metro State University Denver and University of Colorado Colorado Springs could only muster 49 points each and a combined 26 percent shooting.
The Pack hits the road a Tuesday night tilt tonight at Colorado Christian University, beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday's game will be televised on Comcast Entertainment Television, channel 105/900 HD on Comcast Xfinity.
CSU-Pueblo will return home Saturday for a matchup with Colorado School of Mines Saturday at 5:30 p.m. It will be Military Appreciation Night. All active and retired military personnel and their immediate families (Limit 4 guests) will receive free admission.
