COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 29, 2018) – For the second time this season, Katie Cunningham of the Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball team received Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Cunningham (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) averaged 3.0 steals per game to lead the Pack to a 76-57 win over Chadron state College Friday and a 52-51 victory over Regis University Saturday. Cunningham collected 9.5 rebounds per game and 4.0 assists per game for the weekend.
In the Pack's win over the Eagles, Cunningham scored seven points and dished out five assists. On the defensive end, the senior had three steals, one block, and five rebounds.
Saturday night, Cunningham hauled in 14 rebounds including 12 defensive boards to help the Pack beat the Rangers 52-51. She also provided the Pack with three steals and three assists.
Cunningham ranks second in the RMAC with 9.6 rebounds per game. With 9.6 boards per game during RMAC play, Cunningham leads the conference. Her 1.6 steals per game ranks ninth in the RMAC.
Monday's award is the fifth of Cunningham's career and her second this season. Cunningham was the RMAC's Defensive Player of the Year in 2017-18.
Cunningham and the rest of the RMAC leading Pack will head to Adams State University Friday at 5:30 p.m. Friday's game is the start of a three-game road trip that includes stops at Fort Lewis College Saturday and New Mexico Highlands University Tuesday.
