Pack stays impressive, holds on to third

ThunderWolves can't keep pace with Mesa State, Western N.M., but out-perform rest of the field.

SILVER CITY, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 14, 2010) - Despite suffering an 11-shot drop off from their third-round score, CSU-Pueblo maintained its third place standing in the first RMAC women's golf event of the season at Silver City, N.M.

CSU-Pueblo was one of just three teams (which include tourney champion, Western New Mexico, and runner-up, Mesa State) to place all four of its top finishers in the top 25 overall.  The Pack's leaders after one round, Trisha Vinci (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Michaela Breit (Fr., Greeley, Colo.) each fell to 85 after posting a 79 and 80, respectively, Monday, but that still kept both in the top 20, with Vinci finishing 12th and Breit coming in at 15th.

The Pack's top golfer in the second round was Domi Dinallo (Fr., Elephant Butte, N.M.), who shot an 82 to climb inside the top 25.  Dinallo finished 22nd, along with Melissa Jo Smith (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.).

The Pack will look for an even higher finish next week at the second RMAC women's golf event, being held in Grand Junction, Colo.
