ThunderWolves suffer setback during first tourney of spring

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 21, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo didn't open the spring portion of its season the way it had hoped, shooting its second-highest team score of the season at the Western New Mexico Mustang Invitational this weekend.

The Pack's team score of 691 was nearly 30 strokes off the pace it had set throughout the fall, when the Pack's top five routinely shot around the high 660s to low 670s.  The result was an eighth place finish in the non-conference meet, hosted by Western New Mexico University.

The Pack's top finisher was Michaela Breit (Fr., Greeley, Colo.), who finished in 29th place after shooting a 169 over two rounds, which was more than two strokes higher than the 82 stroke average she brought into the Mustang Invitational.

CSU-Pueblo will get to return to familiar grounds next week, though, as the ThunderWolf Invitational at the Desert Hawk Golf Course in Pueblo West is slated for this weekend.
