Pack secures first ever regional tournament berth

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GoThunderWolves.com - April 30, 2012) - The NCAA Division II Women's Golf Committee has selected the teams and individuals that will compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, and for the first time in school history, CSU-Pueblo was selected to participate.

The berth was a foregone conclusion after CSU-Pueblo captured the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship last week, its first RMAC title.  CSU-Pueblo has only participated in regionals on an "individual" basis in the past - last year, Domi Dinallo (So., Elephant Butte, N.M.) and Michaela Breit (So., Greeley, Colo.) claimed two of the region's three individual berths.

Among the RMAC teams picked from the Central Region were Colorado Mesa, Colorado State-Pueblo, Western New Mexico and Adams State.  Three of the four individuals also hail from the RMAC: Maria Manrique (Colorado Christian), Nicole Hulbert (Regis) and Lara Pocs (Regis).

The NCAA Division II women's golf super regional competition will be conducted May 6-8.  The NCAA Central Region Touranment will be held at the Sierra Del Rio golf course in Elephant Butte, N.M. (Dinallo's hometown).  Each super regional will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the championships.

The 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 16-19, at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky. The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores for each team will count in each day's total score. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 72.
