GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (September 26, 2017) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Golf climbed to fifth place after two rounds at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate at the Estrella Golf Club. Courtney Ewing earned fourth place on the final day of the tournament.
Entering the day in sixth place, the Pack fought their way to fifth with a team score 315. They were +27 on the day to finish the tournament +47 (623).
Ewing (Jr., Pueblo West, Colo.) claimed her third top-five finish in four tournaments this season. She carded a +3 (75) after shooting an even par 72 on day one of the tournament to tie for fourth. One week after receiving Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week honors, Ewing led all RMAC golfers with her +3 (147) at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate. Over her past two tournaments, Ewing has averaged 72.75 strokes per round.
Orakorn Thirayatorn (Jr., Meang Khonkaen, Thailand) recorded a +7 (79) on day two to post a two-day score of +13 (157). Thirayatorn took 22nd place in the 90 golfer field. She now has three top 25 finishes in her short Pack career.
Kellsey Sample (Fr., Monument, Colo.) continued her consistent play Tuesday. Sample shot a +9 (81) to place 39th with an overall score of +16 (160). She has averaged 80 shots per round over her last two tournaments.
Jolene Kam (Jr., Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia) bounced back from an 84 (+12) on day one with a +8(80) to score for the Pack Tuesday. Kam claimed 54th place.
The ThunderWolves will wrap up their fall season when they play at the West Texas A&M LadyBuff Invite Oct.2-3. This will be the Pack's fifth tournament in five weeks before they take a break for the winter.
