DURANGO, Colo. (May 7, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo junior Courtney Ewing (Pueblo West, Colo.) carded an opening round 76 Monday at the 2018 NCAA Division II West Region Championships at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colorado.
Ewing's four-over 76 was good for a tied for 11th on day one of three for the 54-hole championship. On the four Par 3's she finished one-under to lead the field of 66 players. Ewing was also -1 on Par 5's to tie for the second best score in the field.
Starting the on the back nine, the junior moved back to even after birdie on the 181-yard Par 3 15. She went on to bogey two of the last three holes to finish with a two-over 38 on her first nine holes. Ewing's front nine wrapped up with an identical two-over 38 that saw five pars, three bogeys and a birdie, which came on the 506-yard Par 5 third.
Ewing will tee off on hole number 10 Tuesday for round two. She is slated to begin at 11:10 a.m. and will play with two other individuals.
