COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 6, 2018) – Orakorn Thirayatorn of the Colorado State University – Pueblo Women's Golf Team earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Thursday.
Thirayatorn (Sr., Meang Khonkaen, Thailand) is the RMAC's first Golfer of the Week of the 2018-19 season. The senior received the RMAC Golfer of the Week award for the first time in her career Thursday.
Also known as Seven, Thirayatorn, won the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at the Pueblo Country Club Monday and Tuesday. She shot a +5 (149), placing her three strokes ahead of any golfer from another RMAC school.
In the first round of the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational, Thirayatorn carded a -1 (71). Thirayatorn was the only golfer to shoot under par during the whole tournament. She also made the only eagle of the tournament.
Seven led the field in scoring on par fours with +1 throughout the tournament. She led the field in par five scoring, with a -1 on the Pueblo Country Club's longest holes.
Thirayatorn's efforts led the ThunderWolves to a team victory at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. The win was the Pack's first victory at the Pueblo Country Club since the tournament moved to the course in 2014.
Individually, Thirayatorn won her first tournament since joining the ThunderWolves last season. Her best finish last season was 11th at the 2017 Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal invitational.
Thirayatorn will lead the Pack back into action when they compete at the RMAC Preview Sept. 17-18. This tournament will be held at the Tiara Rado Golf Course in Grand Junction, Colo.
