Pack splits at Tracy Borah Duals
Air Force 29, CSU-Pueblo 6
CSU-Pueblo 35, Western Wyoming 12
GUNNISON, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo saw action in two duals Saturday at the 20th annual Tracy Borah Duals, earning a win over Western Wyoming College while falling to Division I foe, Air Force.
The ThunderWolves were led by Quinn Donnell (Sr., Jack Canyon, Colo.), who was one of just two T-Wolves to have two wins Saturday. Donnell, the Pack's 157-pounder earned a win against Western Wyoming's nationally-ranked Rodney Dollar in a 4-2 decision, and followed it up with a 6-4 decision over Air Force's Wade Stowe.
The other ThunderWolf to visit the winners' circle twice was Tony Chavarria (So., Pueblo West, Colo.). The ThunderWolves' only nationally-ranked wrestler (eighth at 197 pounds in the latest Division II rankings), Chavarria earned a 4-2 sudden victory over Air Force's Neil Delaney and a forfeit win against Western Wyoming. Chavarria improved to 14-7 with the wins.
As a team, the ThunderWolves ran their 2009-10 dual record to 7-4 after the split. The Pack will return to conference play Thursday night when it hosts nationally-ranked Fort Hays State (Kan.) at Massari Arena. First match is at 7 p.m.
