Road-weary ThunderWolves fall to Mesa State

Mesa State 27, CSU-Pueblo 13

Wrestling their third RMAC dual in three days, the road crept up on the ThunderWolves Friday as CSU-Pueblo fell 27-13 to Mesa State.

Following the dual, the ThunderWolves have just one more RMAC dual - Thursday at home against Colorado School of Mines - before heading to the RMAC Championships Feb. 28.

CSU-Pueblo netted four wins, including the third of the week by Patrick Carey (Jr., Tempe, Ariz.). The Pack's heavyweight made his bid for a national ranking when he knocked off Trevor Stapp in a 3-2 decision.

Tony Chavarria (So., Pueblo West, Colo.) also got back in the win column, taking an 8-3 decision from Shane Miller.  Between Chavarria and Carey's wins, the Pack built an early 6-0 lead in the dual before the bottom fell out.

Mesa State won six straight matches, including two six-point pins and a six-point forfeit, as the dual soon became out of reach for the ThunderWolves.
