Two ThunderWolves advance to championship matches at Cowboy Open

A total of four ThunderWolves finish tournament in top four.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 13, 2010) - Two Pack wresters advanced to championship bouts and a total of four placed at the 2010 University of Wyoming Cowboy Open Saturday.

For the first time since the program was restarted in 2008, CSU-Pueblo placed two wrestlers in the "Elite" division at the Cowboy Open, as 157-pounder Levi Jutila (So., North Pole, Alaska) took fourth and Adam Carey (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) made it all the way to the 184-pound championship match, finishing second.  Carey's loss was to no pushover - he fell to James Nakashima, a junior college national champion who is in his junior season at Division I University of Nebraska.

Two other ThunderWolves finished high in the amateur division, with highly-touted newcomer Jacob Snider (Fr., Parker, Colo.) taking third at 141 pounds and redshirt freshman Trevor Grant (RFr., Winnemucca, Nev.) wrestling his way to the 174-pound championship match.

With the strong showing in Wyoming, CSU-Pueblo will now focus its sights on another open tourney, the University of Nebraska-Omaha Kaufman-Brand Open next Saturday.
