Pack holds its own at Nebraska-Omaha Open

ThunderWolves battle hard against elite Big 10, Division II wrestlers at Open.

PUEBLO, Colo. ( - Nov. 20, 2010) - Though no ThunderWolf is returning with championship hardware from the Nebraska-Omaha Kaufman-Brand Open Saturday, CSU-Pueblo wrestlers showed it belonged at what is arguably one of the top open tournaments in the nation.

Of six wrestlers competing in the Elite Division of the open, five earned wins, many coming against Big Ten or Big XII competition.  Though no ThunderWolf in the Elite Divisions could place in the top six, no CSU-Pueblo wrestler was knocked out of the tournament by a Division II wrestler.

In the Amateur Division, which was packed with participants as some weights had up to 50 wrestlers, more than the Division II national tournament, one ThunderWolf, Trevor Grant (RFr., Winnemucca, Nev.) placed fifth at 174 pounds, and two others, Jacob Snider (Fr., Parker, Colo.) and Matt Addington (Fr., Florence, Colo.) each finished two-wins from placing at very competitive weights.

The ThunderWolves will be off for the Thanksgiving weekend before travelling to Oklahoma City for their first dual of the season against Oklahoma City College on Dec. 1.
