Pack registers one of biggest wins in school history

52-0 win marks second-largest shutout in CSU-Pueblo history.

PUEBLO, Colo. ( - Feb. 3, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo halted a five-dual losing streak Thursday in a big way, turning in the second-biggest shutout in school history with a 52-0 win over Northwest Kansas Tech.

The Pack won all ten matches, getting pins in two.  CSU-Pueblo was given wins in five matches due to forfeits by the Mavericks, who had been hampered by numerous injuries.  But the Pack dominated in the five matches that were wrestled.

Northwest Kansas mustered a grand total of just five points over the five matches, with two of the points coming by a takedown.  Trevor Grant (RFr., Winnemucca, Nev.) at 174 pounds and Matt Addington (Fr., Florence, Colo.) each registered pins, and 197-pounder Levi Jutila (So., North Pole, Alaska) took a 10-2 major decision.  The Pack's scoring was rounded out by a 6-0 decision by Justin Grant (Sr., Winnemucca, Nev.) at 165 pounds and a 4-3 win at 125 pounds by Lyle Evans (Sr., Grantsville, Utah).

CSU-Pueblo's 52-0 win was second only to a perfect 60-0 win registered over Texas Tech in the wrestling program's first season in 1982.  It was also the third-most points registered in a dual in school history.

The ThunderWolves will turn around to take on a nationally-ranked squad Saturday night when it travels to Nebraska-Kearney to take on the Lopers in an RMAC dual.
