Four ThunderWolves named Academic All-Americans

Pack also ranks 16th nationally as a team in GPA.


Four CSU-Pueblo wrestlers have been named Academic All-Americans by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association following last week's Division II National Championships.

Justin Grant (Sr., Winnemucca, Nev.) and Trevor Grant (RFr., Winnemucca, Nev.) were recognized as second-team Academic All-Americans while Adam Carey (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) and Lyle Evans (Sr., Grantsville, Utah) were each recognized as honorable mention Academic All-Americans.

Justin Grant, a senior pre-med major, carried a 3.35 GPA alongside a 14-14 record with the ThunderWolves last season.  He was a national qualifer at 165 pounds during his junior season.

Trevor Grant, a redshirt-freshman biology major, went 22-15 in his first full season with the ThunderWolves in 2010-11.  He carried a team-best 3.68 GPA.

Carey and Evans boasted GPAs above 3.0 at 3.11 and 3.12, respectively.  In 2010-11, they were 13-11 and 8-10, respectively, on the mat.

As a squad, the Pack's 3.069 team GPA ranked 16th in the nation.
