ThunderWolves grab first dual win of season

Pack now continues to Fort Hays Open.


GOODLAND, Kan. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 2, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo wrestling team made a pit stop in Goodland, Kan. Thursday on its way to the Fort Hays Open, knocking off Northwest Kansas Technical College 38-9 in its first dual of the season.

The ThunderWolves earned wins in eight of ten duals, its only losses coming on an injury forfeit at 125 pounds and a one-point decision setback at 184 pounds.  Otherwise, the dual was all ThunderWolves.

CSU-Pueblo recorded three pins, led by the team's win leader, 133-pounder Jesse Hillhouse (Jr., Casper, Wyo.), who improved to 9-2 on the young season after pinning Michael Chaves in the second period.

Also turning in pins were Ryan Kirby (Jr., Byers, Colo.) at 141 pounds and heavyweight Bill Gray (So., Ordway, Colo.).

The ThunderWolves also benefitted from two dominant technical falls turned in by Matt Addington (So., Florence, Colo.) at 165 pounds and Trevor Grant (So., Winnemucca, Nev.) at 174, each recording identical 18-3 wins as the final second expired. 

The ThunderWolves now travel further into Kansas for the Fort Hays Open, the final wrestling event before winter break.
