ThunderWolves one match away against Western State
Pack falls short in a dual of decisions with Mountaineers.
GUNNISON, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 3, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo finished one win away from a draw with conference foe Western State Friday, falling 18-12 to the 18th-ranked Mountaineers in a dual of decisions.
It was simple math Friday as the Pack only won four matches compared to six by Western State, making the difference in the dual.
CSU-Pueblo was its sixth-ranked 133-pounder, Jesse Hillhouse (Jr., Casper, Wyo.) get a win with a 7-4 decision over Matthew Greene, overcoming an early deficit to claim the decision.
Also getting wins were 125-pounder Tim Urenda (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.), winning 4-2 over Dustin Stiegemeyer, 165-pounder Matt Addington (So., Florence, Colo.) with a 5-2 win over Cody Frankum, heavyweight Bill Gray (So., Ordway, Colo.) winning 3-0 over Lane Stuht.
Also of note was the first loss for Trevor Grant (So., Winnemucca, Nev.) since early January, snapping a nine-match win streak.
CSU-Pueblo will return home for a showdown with the 5th-ranked NAIA squad in the nation, Oklahoma City University, Wednesday night at Massari Arena.
