CHADRON, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 10, 2013) - Looking to secure their first conference dual win of the season, the CSU-Pueblo wrestling team took to the road Thursday night to face Chadron State. Wrestling in back-to-back nights, the Pack fell in a tightly contested match 25-18 to the Eagles.
The Pack got off to a quick start when the number one ranked 125-pounder in the nation, Jesse Hillhouse (Sr., Casper, Wyo.) secured a pin 2:39 into the match over Jace Johnson giving the Pack a 6-0 lead.
But an injury default and a pin by the Eagles in the next two matches trailing going into the 149-pound match featuring Jimmy Chase (So., Hanover Park, Ill.). Chase finished with his first fall of the season after he stuck Reed Burgener at 6:33, giving the Pack a 12-12 tie with the Eagles.
Just before the intermission the Pack reclaimed the lead over the Eagles as Nick Stahler (Sr., Palmer, Alaska) won a 4-3 decision over Bryce Wiedeman.
After the Eagles earned a decision to force the third tie of the night, the ThunderWolves regained the match lead on a 4-3 decision win in favor of Ray Hall (Jr., Garfield, Ark.).
The back-and-forth match quickly turned in favor of the Eagles as they rattled off two decisions and a major decision in the final three matches to secure the victory.
The ThunderWolves continue their busy schedule as they travel to Gunnison, Colo. to participate in the Western State Tracy Borah Duals. The Pack's first dual is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday when they face off against California Baptist. The team will wrestle in four seperate dual matches throughout the day.
