Hillhouse to wrestle in 125-pound championship match

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 9, 2013) - An epic RMAC battle will go down Saturday night at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in the 125-pound weight class beginning at 5 p.m. (MST). One with huge implications and the chance to go home with all the marbles. The matchup features No. 1 ranked Jesse Hillhouse and No. 5 Jerry Huff from Adams State.

This will be the first meeting between the two wrestlers as they both navigated different routes in the Super Regionals to reach National's and an earlier dual was decided by a forfeit. 

Hillhouse comes into the match fresh off a 5-4 decision win in the semifinals against Jeffrey Vesta of Newberry. His route to the championship match includes an opening round 6-2 decision win over Eric Forde of St. Cloud State and a pin in his quarterfinal match over Willie Bohince of Mercyhurst.

Huff, the Super Region 4 champion at 125-pounds, navigated his way to the championship match with a pair of major decision victories over Anthony Bruno (9-1) of Northern State and Matthew Turek of Gannon (10-0). In the semifinal match Huff defeated Skylor Davis of Simon Fraser with a 5-2 decision.

Hillhouse comes into the championship match carrying a 28-4 overall record, while Huff carries a 23-4 record. Huff hasn't loss in a match to Division I competition all season, while Hillhouse holds a similar record losing just once this season to a Division II competitor.
