Hughes, DeSantis lead Pack at Cowboy Open

LARAMIE, Wyo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 2, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo got a total of two fourth place finishes, headlining their day at the Wyoming Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo. Saturday.

The ThunderWolves new 125-pounder, Eric Hughes (Jr., Bolivar, Mo.), went 2-2 and finished fourth in the Elite Division at 125, marking the only ThunderWolf to place in the top four in the Elite Division.  He finished just short of a third-place finish, losing to Division I wrestler Rami Halladin from Boise State in the consolation championship.  Along the way, his highlight win was a pin in just 36 seconds of Northwest Wyoming's Cody Vichi.

In the Amateur Division, 184-pounder Augie DeSantis (So., Escondido, Calif.) finished fourth, also falling short in the consolation championship.  DeSantis advanced to the 184-pound quarterfinals before losing, going to the consolation bracket where he rattled off three wins before falling to unattached wrestler, Zach Coffman, who also defeated him in the quarterfinals.

After its positive showing at the Cowboy Open, CSU-Pueblo will travel to Colorado Mesa next weekend for the Colorado Mesa Open.
