PLAINVIEW, Texas (Nov. 13, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo was dominant in its first dual action of the season Wednesday, winning nine of ten matches in a 35-4 victory over NAIA Wayland Baptist.
The Pack won the night's first seven matches to open up a 29-0 lead and several wrestlers turned in dominant wins.
133-pounder Eric Hughes (Jr., Bolivar, Mo.) turned in 18-3 technical fall win over Andrew Porras while Trevor Grant (Sr., Winnemucca, Nev.) got the night's only pin with a win over Wyatt Hardy at 165 pounds, pinning Hardy in 1:43.
Pack wrestlers also scored wins over two nationally-ranked NAIA wrestlers.
At 141 pounds, Chad Vandiver (Sr., Roscoe, Ill.) earned an 8-7 decision over the third-ranked 141-pounder in the nation, Chris Hart. At heavyweight, Niko Bogojevic (Sr., Superior, Wisc.) claimed a 5-2 win over the second-ranked NAIA heavyweight, Markese Christian, in the night's final match.
The dual provided a tune-up for the Pack as it prepares for the University of Northern Colorado Open this weekend in Greeley, Colo.
