Pack cruise to 34-13 victory in rematch with Mustangs

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. - The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team used four pins, all coming in the first period, to win 34-13 Saturday at Western Wyoming Community College.

In a rematch with the Mustangs from a month ago, a match which the Pack held on for a 21-20 win at Pueblo County High School, CSU-Pueblo jumped to a quick lead following a first period pin by Eric Hughes (Sr., Bolivar, Mo.) at 133 lbs.

Two more first period pins by Tim Urenda (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) at 141 lbs and JaCobi Jones (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) at 163 lbs respectively, gave the ThunderWolves a commanding lead. 

Steven Ullman (So., Arvada, Colo.) made his debut at 197 lbs, collecting his first pin of the season in the first period at 197 lbs weight class.

At 157 lbs Steven Kelly (So., Parker, Colo.) won a 10-3 decision. Heavyweight Niko Bogojevic (Sr., Superior, Wis.) rounded out the match with a 16-7 maj. decision.

CSU-Pueblo (2-0) head into the holiday break and will next compete January 10 at the Tracy Borah Duals in Gunnison, Colo. on the campus of Western State Colorado University. The Pack are scheduled to wrestle Grand Canyon University, Air Force, and California Baptist University.


As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
