PUEBLO, Colo. (December 17, 2015) – The No. 18 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team will travel to Nevada this weekend, as four Pack wrestlers are competing in Las Vegas Friday and Saturday at the U.S. Senior Nationals/Trials Qualifier, while nine other members will compete in the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nevada Sunday.

The largest Olympic Trials qualifying event will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center with up to 126 spots up for grabs for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, Apr. 9-10.

Competition will be in the 18 Olympic weight classes, six weight classes in each of the three Olympic styles. The top seven place winners in each weight class will qualify to compete at the Team Trials.

The ThunderWolves competing in Las Vegas are Jacob Mitchell (R-Jr., Portland, Ore.), Tarrence Williams (R-Jr., Portland, Ore.), Kyle Bateman (Jr., Sandy, Ore.) and Marcus Finau (So.,Ewa Beach, Hawai'i).

Mitchell (competing at Greco-Roman 130 kg/286 lbs.) has not yet competed this season. He went 17-1 at Cal-Baptist in 2013-14 with his one loss coming in the NCAA Division II national championship match. Mitchell was the 2013 NJCAA Champion at heavyweight at Clackamas CC.

Williams (competing at Greco-Roman 75 kg/165 lbs.) has gone 4-0 this season, finishing undefeated at Colorado Mesa Open.

Bateman (competing at Greco-Roman 75 kg/165 lbs.) leads the Pack in wins with a 12-6 record on the young season. He clinched the 165-pound championship with an 11-3 major decision win Dec. 6 at Bob Smith Open.

Finau (competing at Greco-Roman85 kg/187 lbs.) opens the season with his first competition at the trials.

Student-athletes competing in Reno will battle along with 24 other college teams and 400 wrestlers at the event.

AJ Salazar (R-Jr., Leadville, Colo.) holds a 5-4 record on the season.

At 149-pounds, Glenn Robertson (R-Fr., Auburn, Wash.) is one of three ThunderWolves with double-digit wins on the year with a 10-3 mark.

JaCobi Jones (So.,Omaha, Neb.) ranks No. 4 nationally at 157 and holds a 10-3 overall record.

Others competing are Sam Hughes (R-So., Bolivar, Mo.), Kyle Fantin(R-So., Cave Creek, Ariz.), Tim Urenda(R-Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), Nathaniel McKimson(Wasilla, Alaska), Augie DeSantis(R-Jr., Escondido, Calif.) and Steven Ullman (R-So., Arvada, Colo.).
