LAS VEGAS, Nev. (December 19, 2015) - Three members of the No. 18 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team qualified to compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, April 9-10 by wrestling to a top seven finish at the U.S. Senior Nationals & Olympic Trails Qualifier in Las Vegas, Nevada, Friday.
Jacob Mitchell (R-Jr., Portland, Ore.) was the top finisher of the four members of the Pack that competed in the Greco-Roman championships, as he finished third at 130kg/286 pounds. He posted a record of 3-1. Mitchell recorded pin at 1:57 in round two after a bye, but fell in the next round. He posted a technical fall (9-0) to advance to the third-place match where he edged his opponent in a 2-1 decision.
Tarrence Williams (R-Jr., Portland, Ore.) finished fourth at 75 kg/165 pounds with a 3-1 record. He won his first three matches, two of which were tech falls by the score of 9-0.
Marcus Finau (So.,Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) was also fourth, as he battled at 85 kg/187 pounds. The sophomore went 3-2, as he lost his first and last matches. Finau's three straight wins got him to the third-place match, as he posted a tech fall (10-1) and two close decisions (6-5 and 4-2).
Kyle Bateman (Jr., Sandy, Ore.) also competed at 75 kg/165 pounds and after a bye, lost his only match of the competition.
Nine members of the CSU-Pueblo wrestling team will wrestle in the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nevada Sunday to put a bow on 2015. The Pack begins dual matches Jan. 7 with a home contest against Western State Colorado University at 7 p.m.

As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
