PUEBLO, Colo. (January 6, 2016) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team begins its dual season Thursday hosting No. 17 Western State Colorado University in a 7 p.m. battle at Massari Arena. The ThunderWolves will then head to Gunnison, Colorado for the 26th Annual Tracy Borah Duals Saturday.

The Pack are receiving votes in the latest national poll, following the tournament portion of the 2015-16 season. Thursday's dual is billed as a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match-up, which will be the first of seven this season.

Three members of the ThunderWolves are ranked nationally, as of the Jan. 1 listing. Sophomore JaCobi Jones (Omaha, Neb.) is No. 4 at 157 after he posted a 12-6 record with four pins during the fall competition. Despite never wrestling a match in a CSU-Pueblo singlet, junior Jacob Mitchell (Portland, Ore.) is No. 4 at heavyweight, as the transfer from California Baptist University will debut Thursday. Finally, newcomer Kyle Bateman (Jr., Sandy, Ore.) is No. 7 at 165 with a 12-6 mark in tournament competition. He has four pins and a first-place finish at the Bob Smith Open in December.

Both Jones and Mitchell were named Preseason All-RMAC.

Western State was pegged to finish fourth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 46 points, just behind the Pack, who garnered 48 points and a first-place vote. Wrestling at 141 for the Mountaineers will be RMAC Preseason Wrestler of the Year, Corbin Bennetts.

Saturday, the ThunderWolves travel to the home of Mountaineer wrestling and the location of the 2016 NCAA Division II Region Four Wrestling Championships for the Tracy Borah Duals. The Pack will wrestle the Air Force Academy at 10 a.m. and Simon Fraser University at 11:30 a.m. All the duals can be viewed live at TrackWrestling.com by CLICKING HERE
