PUEBLO, Colo. (February 4, 2016) - The No. 19 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team fell to University of Central Oklahoma Thursday in a nonconference dual at Massari Arena. Senior Tim Urenda (Pueblo, Colo.) earned a decision victory on an evening where he was recognized for Senior Night.
The bout was the final home dual of the 2015-16 season for the ThunderWolves (2-8), as the Bronchos (11-5) won by the score of 34-6.
Urenda, the sixth-ranked wrestler in Super Region Four, won by a 9-6 decision at 149, as he improved to 13-6 on the season. The Pueblo, Colo. native got down early by the score of 6-0 after a takedown and four-point nearfall. The first period buzzer went off with Urenda leading 7-6, as he earned an escape point and posted a takedown and a four-point nearfall of his own. Urenda added two points in the third to defeat Spence Rutherford, who is ranked fourth in the Super Region Four.
Sophomore Joshua Castellano (Wood Dale, Ill.) also earned a decision victory, as he used a first-period takedown and four-point nearfall to guide him to the 11-7 win at 174. Castellano improved to 3-6 on the season with the victory.
The ThunderWolves conclude their dual season on the road with three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference bouts. The next action for the Pack will be the Feb. 10 at Colorado School of Mines.
As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
