PUEBLO, Colo. (November 18, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team will compete in its second tournament of the season when it travels to the 6th Annual University of Nebraska at Kearney Holiday Inn Open Saturday.
The action begins at 8 a.m. and will run into the late afternoon/early evening hours, as more than 500 wrestlers are expected to take part. The list includes Division I and Division II schools, NAIA institutions and many junior colleges.
The ThunderWolves opened the season Nov. 13 at the University of Northern Colorado Open in Greeley, Colorado. The ThunderWolves had three wrestlers finish in the top four of their respective weight classes.
Newcomer Josiah Seaton (So., Bonner Springs, Kan.) finished second at 125, while seniors Kyle Bateman (174, Sr., Sandy, Ore.) and Kyle Fantin (157, R-So., Cave Creek, Ariz.) were third and fourth, respectfully.
Seaton recorded a 4-1 record, which included starting the day with two major decisions. Bateman went 5-1 with a pin, as he won his first three matches. Fantin lost his first match by a 7-5 decision, but rebounded by winning four straight, as he finished the tournament with a 4-2 record.
As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
