Fantin named Academic All-RMAC First Team; Ullman, Young academic honor roll

RMAC RELEASE

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 29, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team totaled three academic selections, while Kyle Fantin (R-So., Cave Creek, Ariz.) was named Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference First Team Wednesday, as the league office doled out its yearly academic awards.

Fantin holds down a 3.35 GPA in business management. Wrestling at 157, Fantin was a national qualifier this season after finishing fourth at the NCAA Super Region Four Championships. He went 1-2 at the national championships. Overall, Fantin compiled a 25-14 record with three pins. He was runner-up at the RMAC Championships to help guide the Pack to an RMAC Championship. For his efforts, Fantin was named All-RMAC Second Team.

Steven Ullman (R-So., Arvada, Colo.) and Phil Young (Sr., Casper, Wyo.) earned Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll. Ullman owns a 3.5 GPA in computer information systems and business administration. Young is a sociology (criminology) major with a 3.57 GPA.

The ThunderWolves finished 22nd at the NCAA Championships. JaCobi Jones (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) and JaVaughn Perkins (R-Fr., Omaha, Neb.) were two of the four Pack wrestlers that qualified for the national championships who earned All-American honors. CSU-Pueblo was second at the NCAA Super Region Four Championships, which included a region champion in PT Garcia (R-So., Denver, Colo.). Jones was an RMAC Champion for the league champions.
