FAYETTE, Iowa (January 19, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team will enter tonight's dual at Colorado Mesa University ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division II Coaches Association Top 25. Sophomore JaVaughn Perkins (Omaha, Neb.) leads a group of four ThunderWolves ranked in the top 12, as he sits at No. 1 at 184.

The Pack moved up from No. 7 and currently own a 4-5 record in dual competition. Tonight's battle with the Mavericks is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CSU-Pueblo is coming off a 22-21 home dual win against Adams State Unviersity. CMU is receiving votes in the latest rankings and are just outside the top 25. Colorado Mesa owns a 2-6-1 dual record and have one athlete ranked nationally, as Payton Tawater is ranked No. 4 at 157. 

Perkins moves into the top spot after defeating then-No. 1 Nick Fiegener of Cal-Baptist at the NWCA National Duals. He is 3-2 overall and has won all three dual bouts. 

For the ThunderWolves, PT Garcia (Jr., Denver, Colo.) is ranked No. 7 at 133. He owns a 4-3 overall record with two falls, but is coming off an upset loss against ASU. Clay Archer (Sr., Broken Arrow, Okla.) enters the rankings for the first time, as he sits No. 7 at 141. Archer is 6-4 overall with three falls. He has won three straight, including an upset win against then-No. 3 Brandon Ball of Fort Hays State. At 165, JaCobi Jones (Sr., Omaha, Neb.) remained at the No. 2 spot. He owns an 11-2 overall record with two falls. Jones has won eight straight and owns an 8-0 record in dual competition. 

CSU-Pueblo returns home Jan. 24 to battle with No. 15 Western State Colorado University at 7 p.m. at Massari Arena. The bout will serve as Youth Night and Senior Night. All youth ages 18 and under will be admitted for free.
