ThunderWolves sign NWAACC standouts
PUEBLO, Colo - The ThunderWolves women's soccer team announced
that Taylor Sinclair and Candice Duffy, both currently attending
Walla Walla Community College (WA), have signed letters of intent
to attend CSU-Pueblo for the 2008-09 academic year. Both players
were two-time NWAACC All-Conference selections and competed in two
consecutive NWAACC championship matches.
Taylor Sinclair, who will be a business major, anchored the Walla
Walla backline after earning all-state and all-area honors at
Richland (WA) High School. "We expect Taylor to step in and help
our defense continue to improve. She brings a tremendous soccer
personality to the field and is a great fit with our players off
the field as well," comments Dave Morris, coach of the defending
RMAC finalist ThunderWolves. "Technically, Taylor is skillful and
has good speed - we're excited about having her coming into our
program."
Candice Duffy, who plans to major in nursing, was the NWAACC's
leading scorer this past fall, with 29 goals and 8 assists. The
East region MVP finishes her career at WWCC with 49 goals and 21
assists over two seasons, after earning Conference Player of the
Year honors at Idaho Falls HS. With the ThunderWolves graduating
their all time leading scorer, Robin Hayes, it seems to be a
perfect fit for the Idaho native to step in and be part of the
CSU-Pueblo attack. "I was really impressed by Candice because she
can score goals, but she also does a nice job setting up other
people. She's another woman who is a great fit for our program as
well as a brilliant attacking player. "
"We feel like both these student-athletes will be able to
contribute right away," adds Coach Morris. "This is another step
forward for our program in terms of competing in the RMAC, and in
adding great student-athletes to our program."
