T-Wolf soccer adds two signees for 2010
CSU-Pueblo head women's soccer coach, Janet Cassidy, is pleased to announce the addition of two new women's soccer student-athletes to the 2010 roster.
Joining the ThunderWolves in 2010 is forward/midfielder Chelsea Brigham (Capistrano Beach, Calif./Dana Hills HS) and keeper Savannah Thompson (Upland, Calif./Upland HS).
Brigham, a four-year varsity member of the Dana Hills High School Dolphins in Capistrano Beach, Calif., was a starter for the Gold Level U18 United FC in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. She helped United FC to a second-place finish in the 2008 Nomads Championships in California. Brigham, a National Honor Society student with a 3.8 high school GPA, will be a journalism major at CSU-Pueblo.
"Chelsea will also be a great addition to our Thunderwolf soccer family," Cassidy said. "She has great presence on the field as a forward or midfielder with her size and stature. She is a very smart and technical player and has a tremendous shot. She will be competing for a starting spot as well."
Thompson, a 5-foot-9 keeper from Upland High School in Upland, Calif., doubled as the keeper for one of the top club teams in California and the nation in the U18 Slammers FC North in Newport Beach, Calif., regarded as one of the top youth girls' clubs in the United States. In addition to her club team, she was a two-time all-league selection at Upland High, earning second-team all-league honors during her junior season. She helped Upland to two Clairemont Winter Classic Tournament titles, once securing tournament MVP honors.
"Savannah, with her size and experience in one of the best soccer clubs in California, will be a great addition to our program," Cassidy said. "She is very aggressive in the box and has sound technique in the goal. I am very pleased to have her come here and compete for a starting keeper spot in the Fall."
Cassidy said news of more signees is upcoming.
