PUEBLO, Colo. (September 9, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 overtime victory against Emporia State Friday at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium. Rianna Lockhart (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored the games' only goal just minutes into the first overtime period.
Battling a brisk wind throughout the match, the ThunderWolves kept a steady attack from the start, outshooting the Hornets 6-2 in the first period.
Through the first half six different Pack players managed a shot and the Pack held a 3-1 corner kick advantage.
Opening the second half and playing against the wind allowed for the Hornets offensive attack to pick up as they fired seven shots in the half and earned five corner kicks to CSU-Pueblo's one in the period.
Playing in the first overtime game of the season, the Pack wasted little time in attacking the net with the wind to their advantage. CSU-Pueblo managed to get the ball deep in Hornet territory allowing Lockhart to get open and fire off a rebounded shot to bottom left side of the net past a diving goalkeeper.
It is Lockhart's first goal both of the season and as a member of the Pack.
CSU-Pueblo goalkeeper Alison Darr (Sr., Placerville, Calif.) made three saves on ten shots by the Hornets. Darr recorded her seventh shutout of her Pack career.
CSU-Pueblo (2-1) wraps up the homestand Tuesday Sept. 13 when they welcome Eastern New Mexico to town for a nonconference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium.
