PUEBLO, Colo. (September 13, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team's win streak hit three straight games Tuesday as the Pack concluded nonconference play defeating Eastern New Mexico University 2-0 led by two goals from Sandra Grimaldo (Sr., Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) Tuesday at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium.
Grimaldo netted both goals for the Pack in the first half. The first goal came in the 15th minute when Grimaldo intercepted a ball near midfield and drove the ball down the right side, firing a shot from inside the box across the net inside the left post securing her first goal of the season.
In the 31st minute the ThunderWolves gained possession deep in Greyhound territory allowing Grimaldo to get free of the defense and hit a header past a diving goalkeeper and a 2-nil lead.
CSU-Pueblo held an 8-4 shot advantage and led in corner kicks 3-2.
The second half saw the ThunderWolves defense again in control with the trio of Brittney Crank (Jr., Idaho Falls, Idaho), Rianna Lockhart (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Jessica Westhoff (Jr., Centennial, Colo.) each giving quality minutes in holding the Greyhounds to seven shots in the game.
Pack goalkeeper Alison Darr (Sr., Placerville, Calif.) made four strong saves at the net for her third shutout this year.
CSU-Pueblo (3-1) goes on the road this week for the first time this season and will play four games on the road to begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Pack plays Friday at Fort Lewis College in a 12:30 p.m. match and ends the weekend Sunday at Adams State at 2:30 p.m.
