PUEBLO, Colo. (October 7, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team notched its fourth straight win Friday defeating Regis University 2-1 on RESPECT night at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium.
Opening the contest the teams interlocked arms in a show of solidarity as Hundley read a statement about what respect means and how it affects the everyday lives of everyone around.
From the opening kickoff the Pack offense was ignited as they gained possession in Ranger territory and managing several shots in the first moments of the contest.
CSU-Pueblo capitalized on a Regis turnover in the 21st minute when Koss drove the ball down the center of the field and struck a one-timer past RU's goalkeeper and an early 1-0 lead.
Karley Whiteman (So., Alta Loma, Calif.) guided the Pack in the first period, shooting the ball twice at the net.
At halftime the Pack led 5-2 in shots, while Regis held a 3-1 corner kick advantage.
Holding onto the one-goal lead for much of the second period, CSU-Pueblo added its second goal in the 76th minute when Hundley intercepted the ball at midfield and drove it one-on-one past the defense and hit a dribbler under the reach of the Regis goalkeeper.
It is the first goal of the season for Hundley.
Regis cut into the lead in the 85th minute but was unable to get any closer before time expired.
Pack goalkeeper Alison Darr (Sr., Placerville, Calif.) picked up the win, making two saves on five Ranger shots.
CSU-Pueblo (7-3, 4-2 RMAC) continues at home Sunday to battle MSU Denver. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium.
