SPEARFISH, SD (October 5, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team won its third straight match after defeating Black Hills State University 3-2 Friday in Spearfish, SD.
For the match, CSU-Pueblo recorded a season-high 26 shots in the match and kept BHSU to its second-lowest shot mark at six in the match.
In the first period, the Pack got on the board in the 10' on a goal by Laikyn Koss (Sr., Riverside, Calif.), her fifth of the season. She took a shot from the right side of the box and hit it low inside the post.
The Pack extended the lead in the 30' when Justine Martinez (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) found the net after taking a cross from the left post. It is Martinez first goal of the season. Hannah Andresen (Sr., Arvada, Colo.) earned an assist on the play.
BHSU scored two goals in a two-minute span and even the score at 2-2 at intermission.
At halftime, the Pack managed 16 shots and earned a 3-1 corner kick lead.
In the second period the ThunderWolves defense kept its strong play at the backline and allowed two second-half shots.
Mackenzie Bean (Sr., Bothell, Wash.) scored the go-ahead goal in the 62' after taking the ball herself down the right side and hit the far low post and inside the net.
In the game Koss lead all players with ten shots.
Pack goalkeeper Rylie Martin (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made one save and faced just six shots in the game. Martin played on her feet for most of the contest.
CSU-Pueblo (6-3-1, 3-3-0) stays on the road and takes on Regis University Sunday at 1 PM at Regis Match Pitch.
