Pack women run into D-I competitors at USAFA Tourney

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The CSU-Pueblo women's tennis team ran into stiff competition at the United States Air Force Academy Tournament, as the ThunderWolves were unable to earn a victory, but proved to themselves that they can play up to the level of Division I tennis players.

The Pack's best challenge for a win was put up by Tiffany Talmadge, who took the first set in her match against Denver University's Mikele Smith, winning 7-6 before dropping the next set 6-0, then losing the tiebreaking set 10-8.

"I was extremly proud of all the players and how they were able to lift their games to a higher level," Pack coach Tom Durham said. "Now they know they are capable of competing with some of the best women playees. Building off of this experience, we are looking forward to a great Winter and Spring Season."

The tournament concludes the Pack's fall season, but they will pick up in the spring when Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play begins.
