ThunderWolves snag season's first win vs. CCU
CSU-Pueblo 8, Colorado Christian 1
SILVER CITY, N.M. - The ThunderWolves broke out of a funk with a vengeance Friday as the Pack scored its first match win of the season, winning 8-1 over Colorado Christian.
The ThunderWolves lost only the No. 1 doubles match as the Pack swept the competition in singles matches. The low singles matches were easy wins, as Valerie Boughton (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Cindy Boughton (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) both won 6-1, 6-0 as Cindy Boughton claimed her first singles win of the season.
Andrea Ortiz (RFr., Pueblo, Colo.) earned her first sweep of the season, winning her singles match in a tight one, 7-5, 6-3, and joining with Valerie Boughton to win the No. 2 doubles match 8-6.
This week, Ortiz and Boughton were ranked ninth in the Central Region doubles combo rankings.
CSU-Pueblo will face a tougher challenge Saturday when it takes on Western New Mexico, also in Silver City.
