KEARNEY, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 17, 2010) - Last season, Morgan Forsyth (Jr., Parker, Colo.) burst onto the collegiate tennis scene by nearly snaring a singles title at ITA Division II Central Regional Tournament.

This year, with nobody being blindsided by her talent, Forsyth is battling for another berth in that regional final, and is trying to join with doubles partner Andrea Ortiz (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) for a doubles title, as well.

After one day of competition, Forsyth was in the winners' bracket, qualifying for the round of 16 and joining with Ortiz for a quarterfinal berth in the doubles winners' bracket.

In two singles matches Friday, Forsyth wasn't met with much resistance, scoring a 6-1, 6-0 win over Metro State's Samantha Schall, and downing Nebraska-Kearney's Heather Connolly in straight sets.

On the doubles side, Forsyth and Ortiz had a bit of a tougher time, scoring an 8-6 win over Minnesota State's Kathryn Gavin and Sarah Madigan to make their way to the quarterfinals.

Overall, the Pack was impressive in all matches, as all entrants to the tournament won at least one match in the season-opening tournament.

The ITA Central Regionals will continue tomorrow.
