DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 24, 2010) - The season didn't open in the way the Pack men's and women's tennis teams had hoped, as the women's squad fell 8-1 and the men's team fell 6-1 to Metro State.
The women's squad got one win, from one-singles player Morgan Forsyth (Jr., Parker, Colo.), who scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Metro's top singles player, Alicia Holm. No other ThunderWolf was able to win a set throughout Friday's dual.
On the men's side, newcomer Saul Shrom (Fr., Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada) won at four-singles, getting a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ryan Campbell. Two other matches went to tiebreak, with Ivan Aragona (Jr., Sao Paolo, Brazil) at three-singles and Anthony Breitenbach (So., Tigard, Ore.) at two singles on the short end, and two additional matches were called due to darkness.
Both squads have two matches tomorrow at Colorado Christian - the women take on CCU and Fort Hays State while the man have CCU and Nebraska-Omaha.
