Pack falls short in duals with Mesa, Dixie
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 9, 2010) - Despite being a competitive in a number of matches, CSU-Pueblo couldn't keep up with a tough Mesa State squad and just fell a hair shy of knocking off Dixie State, losing 6-3 and 5-4, respectively, in Grand Junction Saturday.
The very top and very bottom of the Pack's lineup was solid in both matches, as one-singles standout Morgan Forsyth (Jr., Parker, Colo.) held strong to go a perfect 2-0 in against the best players from Mesa State and Dixie State.
At six-singles, Aneysa Hart (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) was just shy of going 4-0 combined in singles and doubles matches, getting wins at six-singles and two-doubles against Dixie State, and losing against Mesa by the closest of margins. A first-set tiebreak sidetracked a six-singles win for Hart, and she and partner Kellie Manes (So., Pueblo, Colo.) fell just short with a 9-7 loss at three-doubles.
The two matches close up the Pack's fall portion of the season, and the ThunderWolves showed fight in finishing 2-3 and having a fighting chance in nearly every dual this fall. The Pack will return to play and start conference matches in the spring. The spring schedule has not yet been released.
