Women's tennis concludes season on high note

DENVER, Colo.-(GoThunderWolves.com-April 21, 2012)-  Taking part in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship, the CSU-Pueblo Women's Tennis team ended their 2012 campaign on a high when they defeated Colorado Christian to claim fifth place.

After losing to Metro State (0-5) in the opening rounds of the tournament, the Pack found their form against Colorado Christain, winning six games to three and walked away with fifth place.

In the win, Cindy Boughton (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned two of the ThunderWolves victories.  As she has done all season at her number six singles spot, Boughton contolled her match for the win, 6-4, 6-4.  Her second win came with help from partner Heather Guilliams (Fr., Brighton, Colo.) at the number three doubles, 8-2.  Guilliams also added a win in her singles match, 6-2, 6-1.  Between the two, the Pack got four of its six wins.

Brittani Trevithick (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) made her first visit to the RMAC tournament count by winning both of her matches.  Trevithick posted a win at her number five singles, 6-4, 6-3 and then joined Nicole Pilot (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) for her second win on the day at number one doubles.

Kellie Manes (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) picked up the Pack's sixth match and season ending team win at her number two singles, winning in three sets 3-6, 6-0, 6-3. 

Western New Mexico was crowned the 2012 Women's RMAC Champions when they beat Nebraska -Kearney for the title.
