Pack women's track kicks off with heptathlon
Results: Pack's Rollins, McGrath in 5th, 7th place after four events
PUEBLO, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo's Jasmine Rollins (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Lori McGrath (Fr., Pueblo West, Colo.) put up reputable showings through four events of the eight-woman heptathlon, part of the CSU-Pueblo Combined Events meet, which kicked off Thursday.
Rollins, who nearly qualified for nationals during the indoor track season in the heptathlon, rebounded from taking a stumble in the day's opening event, the 100-meter hurdles, to finish in the top four in two of the day's four events. Rollins finished last in the hurdles event, but nearly took the high-jump crown, finishing second place in the event.
Nebraska-Kearney's Kelli Dring won three of the day's four events, and led all hepathletes with 2,776 points after four events.
McGrath was in 7th place after four events.
In the men's decathlon, also taking place at the meet, the field was paced by Western State's Jeremy Bubb and Jason Brenton, who were first and second in the seven-man field after five events.
The combined events meet will conclude Friday morning, with the CSU-Pueblo Spank Blasing Invitational also taking place Friday, beginning at 10 a.m.
