COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo's freshman jumper, Shannon Elliott (Fr., El Paso, Tex.), was named the RMAC Field Athlete of the Week Wednesday following her automatically qualification in the triple jump last weekend.

Elliott, who currently has the top triple jump in the nation after her 12.33-meter leap at the Colorado School of Mines Alumni Extravaganza last weekend, also finished 7th place in the long jump and 6th place in the high jump at the event.

Elliott's triple jump leap put her over the top for the award, though, as she is currently the only RMAC trackster to have earned an automatic qualification to nationals and just one of two in the nation at this early point in the season to have secure an automatic qualification.  Elliott's triple jump is also the second-longest collegiate jump, regardless of classification, and broke a CSU-Pueblo school record, as well.
