Sprints strong at CU Invitational

BOULDER - The ThunderWolves got several strong performances at the CU Invitational in Boulder Saturday, led by Maya Richards (So., Denver, Colo.) and Blair Gilkes (So., Aurora, Colo.) in sprint events.

Richards recorded two top-ten finishes, finishing eight in the 200-meter and ninth in the 400-meter.  Gilkes added fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash.

The Pack also got high finishes in jumps, getting two top-ten finishes out of Danita Wyatt (So., Aurora, Colo.), getting a 7th-place 16-foot, 9-3/4-inch leap in the long jump and a fourth place finish in the triple jump (36-feet, 9-1/2 inches).  Summer Hawkinson (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) also turned in a third-place finish in the high jump.

CSU-Pueblo will return home next weekend for their second home event of the season in the CSU-Pueblo Invitational and Combined Events, taking place Thursday through Saturday at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.
